food seller at night

i captured this image in an occassion of visiting a museum in jakarta, one night in september 2009.

there are night foodstalls around this museum particularly during weekends. this one is a picture of a man selling fried bananas, taufus, and sweet-potato dumplings. behind him is a stall selling drinks. hot and cold are available.

i took other pictures of those sellers. i like the contrast bright produced by the oil-lamp they are using.

to those who wait

last week i went to a supermarket to buy snacks. and i found a pie which i've never tasted before, it was sold in a box with a note like on this picture:


i was moved by the fifth line of the text. haha! so i ventured to buy it. and i've got a delicious pukka pie, plus a lesson on "patience" as a bonus. :)

come to where the flavor is

this coming saturday will be asia pacific food festival day in corpus christi college. after a week full of intense assignments, here comes the fun part. all indonesian students in oxford are united to contribute to this delicious event. there are less than twenty of us but we will entertain at least two hundred portions of special dishes from our homeland.

many other asian students unions will participate too. our decision to penetrate the event came in the last moments. and so the competition for the menu started earlier as we must avoid cooking the same dish presented by other groups.

the supreme council of kitchen duchess already decided what our menu will be. the other crews will do their best to make sure their decision on nasi goreng bali (fried rice), dadar gulung (rolled coconut pancake), gado-gado (vegetable mix) and sate reign on saturday night.

ah, i can already smell the food in my mind...

sweet and colorful

every morning i pass a fruit stall on my way to work, which is located near from where i reside. so it is almost my daily routine to see this kind of colorful spot and i love to stop to buy bananas for a 'snack'. look at the colors. delicious, fresh and healthy. pick one as your favorite dessert. or more if you really like... hmm...
