futsal nights

every friday night, when the sky is not crying, my friends and i gather on a medium-sized futsal field located in my office complex, and play the five-on-five game. sometimes until the middle of the night. we are frenzied about it. it's true that injuries and muscular pains are unavoidable. but the laughters, the rejoice, and the friendship it creates pay us back with a greater meaning.

i dont quite remember how it started. but i am among the few who is often taking the position as the goal keeper. at least for one term. or until someone is too tired to keep on running but too exited about the game to stop playing. so in that time, vahd becomes the cat of the field. jumping and running, kicking - although not as hard as aldi the commander, and eventually scoring!

the next five to ten seconds after scoring a goal are always the best moments of the evening. we shout. and the boys who are in the same team claps their hands while watching the scorer walking in his distinct way of feeling victorious. so cool.

tonight we will come again. i hope this game will continue to be on my calendar's list for the friday nights to come... or any last working day's night of the week...

if you wish to join, bring your shoes, short and towel.

welcome, nikolai

aviv, or nikolai paralsky, or niki, is a new guest of this capital city of jakarta. he arrived last night from bandung. he takes with him two packs of documents and clothes to defeat the hardship of living in the present day batavia.

the national monument, the train station of gambir, the presidential palace, istiqlal the grand mosque, the cathedral next to the bull's square, and immanuel church are all around to greet his freshly graduated spirit.

next, the crowded streets full of traffic jam, dusty busses thronged with tired passengers, zig-zag motorcyclists and bajaj drivers, empty bottles of mineral water, the blue birds and their taxi fellows, all together will also bid him a warm bienvenue.

niki, if you happen to read this, i wish you good luck with your first job. it is a professional one. i know you will make it. i am sure you can overcome the challeges and eventualy eat your share of the delicious cake too. you know now what the city is going to be like.

the place where you work is called harmoni. i hope that name will also give you a kind of harmony in your life.

find a girl, brother. or let a lucky girl finds you, if that is your preferable way to put it... haa! and good luck.

sail on

things may come and go in the ways we don't anticipate.
they are not arranged in a certain kind of circles, like those of seasons under the sun.

no, we can not direct the wind. but sailors always know how to adjust their sails, don't they?

not dark yet

a new face is seen around here, walking in just this morning, and occupying that desk next to the calendar.

a much anticipated left-handed new colleague is coming. even though not to be present for a long time, such a lively gesture in the office feels like having more oxygene in the air that you breathe.

it is not dark yet. but it's getting there.
